Rapid population growth, urbanisation and densification are driving the need to create more desirable places for people to work, live and play. The key to success is to merge urban design and masterplanning with inspirational destinations, sustainable buildings, essential infrastructure including effective transport networks as well as community needs.
Creating Inspirational Destinations
Focused on supporting civic life, WSP understands the challenges of creating great places. Our teams understand that developing convention centres and civic buildings as part of integrated precincts have a responsibility to act as catalysts for urban vitality and community prosperity.
Through working closely with public and private sector organisations, WSP designs inspirational destinations that meet the needs of our future cities. Through leveraging our portfolio of expertise, WSP delivers connected, sustainable and cost-effective precincts that generate social and economic value for the client, and the community.
WSP has developed and maintained long-term relationships with governments and cities across the globe. From Sydney to Auckland, Helsinki to Dubai, and Toronto to Johannesburg, our project portfolio includes municipal infrastructure, civic and government buildings, urban regeneration and public realm improvements. Globally, WSP has been engaged in the Stockholm Royal Seaport, to revitalise 236ha of industrial land to create a new vibrant waterfront lifestyle precinct. WSP has combined the best current thinking on energy efficiency with technological innovation and new approaches to handle energy demand across the district. The site highlights the projects ability to integrate an extensive transport strategy with vast open spaces and landscaping.
Our work for the government sector spans our entire range of capabilities, in addition to offering significant expertise in complex financing options such as Public Private Partnerships. Locally, WSP’s work at Central Park, Sydney showcases how WSP are sustainably transforming our urban centres. Central Park is aimed at being Australia’s greenest urban village, through transforming the former Carlton United Brewery into a dynamic green-star mixed-use precinct. In addition to offering sustainability and engineering services, WSP assisted in developing the precinct masterplan which saw the revitalisation of the 5.8ha industrial site, into Sydney’s most sustainable urban precinct.
