Environment Analyst, the independent market intelligence partner and advisor to the global consulting and professional services industry, has published a report evaluating how the world’s major environmental & sustainability (E&S) consultants are responding to the rapidly evolving climate and ESG disclosure landscape.
Environment Analyst scored the E&S consultants using a unique analysis and rating system they developed against industry-specific carbon intensity benchmarks, as well as a range of other factors, including their alignment to gold standard frameworks and initiatives such as the SBTi, CDP, TCFD and UN Global Compact and their net zero and sustainability goals, governance, and progress.
Of the 50 E&S firms rated, WSP and 30 other firms have set science-based climate targets under the SBTi. However, WSP is currently one of only three firms to have aligned to the higher-ambition SBTi Corporate Net Zero Standard, which requires faster and harder absolute emissions reductions.
“It is an honour to stand among the four firms out of fifty to have received this five-star rating from Environment Analyst,” said André-Martin Bouchard, WSP’s Global Director, Earth & Environment and Global Executive Director, ESG. “Our Net Zero journey and ESG leadership excel due to the robust program we have built and invested in, steering the entire organization. We are proud of our role as agents of change, setting bold targets, and reporting on our actions and performance with rigour and transparency as we transition to a cleaner, low-carbon, bio-diverse world.”
The report which is titled ''ESG Strategies: Accelerating Impact and Net Zero Goals in Consultancy'', finds that while there is pressure to act, some firms have made slower progress – despite being the experts who advise businesses and governments on how to engage in the journey. WSP is among the leading firms that are driving innovative solutions and making measurable progress that will ultimately benefit their clients, communities, and the planet.
