Our Malaysian team has been conferred the prestigious Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) Award for Contribution to Engineering Industry in Malaysia 2024 in the Sustainable Property Development category for our delivering exceptional engineering solutions for ExecuJet’s MRO hangar project.
WSP Malaysia’s Managing Director, Karthegasen Nakulan, receive this esteemed award from Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, at the 65th IEM Annual Dinner & Awards Night themed ‘ESG Catalyst for Engineering Evolution’. This marks our first win at IEM Award.
With an impressive 149,500-square-foot facility area that is capable of accommodating up to 15 large business jets, the project has now become Malaysia's largest business aviation MRO centre, solidifying the country's position in the fast-growing Asian business aviation sector.
We provided multidisciplinary services covering architectural design, civil, structural and MEP engineering as well as landscape and sustainability consultancy for the client ExecuJet, an Switzerland-based international business aviation company with facilities operating across the world to operate a managed fleet of over 100 aircrafts.
The project's innovative features, including its pre-engineered steel hangar with a span of over 160 meters, performance-based approach for steel fire-rated materials, and Future Ready design principles, showcase our capacity for innovation and engineering excellence.
Furthermore, our project's sustainable design elements, such as harnessing natural daylight and ventilation, implementing rainwater harvesting systems, and incorporating green initiatives, demonstrate our dedication to long-term sustainability and resilience.
Additionally, our inclusivity and accessibility initiatives ensure that the space is welcoming and accessible to all individuals, adhering to Universal Design principles and providing barrier-free circulation and inclusive facilities.
