WSP, the engineering professional services consultancy, has been named as a supply chain partner to National Highways on its new multi-year Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF).
National Highways (formerly Highways England) has a long tradition of operating, maintaining and improving the strategic road network in England. The six-year SDF, worth up to £3.6bn, is a new approach to procuring design and construction services to support network maintenance and improvement.
The SDF will allow for the renewal and improvement of the country’s motorways and major A-roads in order to meet the constantly evolving priorities of customers and provide a safe network for drivers.
WSP was successful in securing three Design Services roles with National Highways, the maximum number of regions allowable within the renewals framework.
WSP was successful in the following regions:
- East Region, allowing for three years of support,
- North West Region, allowing for five-and-a-half years of support,
- South Super Region, allowing for six years of support
Charlie Hodgson, Managing Director, Transport & Infrastructure at WSP, said: “I’m delighted that we’ve been successful on this framework and part of this innovative new approach from National Highways. WSP has a long-standing heritage of road asset maintenance design for multiple local authorities and national operators, and this framework will enable us to play a central role in the SDF supplier community in renewing and improving some of the country’s most vital roads.
“There was a great deal of hard work across technical, project and business development specialists within WSP to achieve this and I congratulate and thank everyone involved.”
