Undertaken by Caritas Hong Kong Youth and Community Service in collaboration with the government’s Architectural Services Department (ASD), WSP was involved in this project ‘Extend Living Space for Sub Divided Unit (SDU) Resident in Tsuen Wan’. The project aims at enhancing the overall wellbeing of low-income families living in SDU by providing them an extended and multi-purpose living space in the local Tsuen Wan neighbourhood where they can cook and do the laundry, study and play, and enjoy quality time in a larger common room, allowing them to develop their mutual support network, income generation skills and thrive in the community.
The floor occupied by this living space was originally a government-owned staff quarters built in 1981. Our three colleagues from Property & Buildings team, Helen Chan, Cindy Man and Eddie Leung, were recognised for their time, dedication and expertise in providing MEP design and consultancy for this retrofitting project from October 2021 to April 2023 voluntarily. Their commitment and hard work serving as representatives of Caritas as well as effective coordination with ASD throughout the project were acknowledged on the thanksgiving celebration held by Caritas in February.
Aligning with WSP’s vision of creating thriving communities, the project exemplifies our effort to empower the individuals and create a more inclusive future for all. The project was opened to public in July 2023.
