To reduce the Turn Around Time (TAT) of its maintenance operations and meet performance requirements, Air France has centralized all its activities on a single site in Roissy.
This industrial aerostructure department produces the parts that make up the structure of an aircraft - including the fuselage, wings and engine nacelles. It features a repair workshop equipped with workstations that are either multipurpose or dedicated, a clean room, and surface preparation and painting workshops that meet ATEX requirements (ATmosphères EXplosives). The site is able to process both metallic and composite structural elements.
The project also includes classic support functions such as offices, technical facilities, parking lots and 1,500 m2 of logistics (stores).
Technology showcase and quality workplace
WSP in France and its partner Sandrolini Architecte have designed a high-performance building, a showcase of Air France's technological prowess.
A continuous height of 12 metres follows the tight curve traced by the highway around the site, forming an axis with production offices and workshops.
The latter are used for repair and test operations, in particular thrust reverse systems and their associated components (air intake hoods, etc.) and mobile components such as canopies or radomes.
Seven large painting booths (three of which can be paired to accommodate very long parts) complete the equipment.
Each tool is equipped with an RFID chip in order to avoid forgotten objects that can be a source of damage during flight.
A total of 250 employees have been working since 2015 in this High Environmental Quality-rated plant, renamed Helios because of the extensive natural lighting it enjoys.
