Exploring new forms of collaboration to promote sustainable development in one of the planet’s most important ecosystems.

WSP was engaged by Forestry Innovation Investment in BC to develop a tool to help promote the benefits of using mass timber. The tool, timberX, provides early-stage insights (carbon intensity, cost, bay-weight, structural depth) for developers, architects and engineers and displays the trade-offs in these criteria with steel and concrete structural systems.

Hydro-Québec commissioned WSP to conduct a double materiality assessment to clarify and validate its sustainability priorities. Grounded in international best practices, including the requirements of the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), the assessment combined evidence gathering, internal engagement, and largescale public consultation. By evaluating 20 sustainability topics and identifying those with the greatest impacts, risks, and opportunities, WSP laid the groundwork for a future operational strategic framework that will enable Hydro Québec to further embed sustainability in decision making and governance.

Preparing for a growing South Australia

The Port Lands Flood Protection project has re-naturalized the Don Valley River to safeguard Downtown Toronto from increasing risks of flood, help spur economic growth and strengthen biodiversity.

Shaktoolik, Alaska, is a remote village of 260 people, located 125 miles east of Nome, on a narrow spit of land between the Tagoomenik River and the Bering Sea. Brightly painted houses line either side of the village’s only road, a 1-mile stretch of sand and gravel.

WSP have been managing the Facilities and Asset Management, and the delivery of the buildings and grounds portfolio of Transpower’s network contract for more than 25 years.

WSP USA works with South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) to balance water supply and ecosystem restoration in the Everglades, to sustain this natural wonder for future generations.

Ramona Gardens is in the top 1% of the most polluted communities in California. Residents suffer disproportionately high levels of respiratory diseases, with children suffering from asthma at twice the state average.  

With erosion in the Kananga area causing large gullies that threaten local infrastructure and pose a risk to communities, we helped the UN design suitable solutions for local contractors to build.

Ulrich Gardens is a historic complex located in Warsaw's Wola district, near the Wola Park shopping center. The Sustainable Development Team of WSP in Poland was responsible for certifying three buildings located in the park, which is currently owned by Wola Park (Ingka Centres). The main goal of the project was to restore the park's significant role for the local community while maintaining sustainable development values.
