WSP supports the Odyssey Project's transformation into the Odyssey Mine, enabling the continued development of the Canadian Malartic and Barnat pits through four main mineralized zones at depth (East Gouldie, East Malarctic, Odyssey North and Odyssey South).

In 2021, Canadian Malarctic Mine (CMM) and its two partners, Yamana Gold Inc. and Agnico Eagle LTD. gave their approval to proceed with the construction work that will transform the Odyssey Project into the Odyssey Mine in the coming years.

WSP is providing detailed engineering services for the construction of the ore handling infrastructure, such as the headframe, hoist room, jacking infrastructure and shaft to enable safe and efficient operations. We have also assisted the client in selecting a high-capacity hoisting system in a deep well.

The mine will allow for the continued development of the Canadian malarctic and Barnat pits through four main mineralized zones at depth—mainly East Gouldie, East Malarctic, Odyssey North and Odyssey South. It will be accessible by a ramp and a shaft estimated to be 1,800 m deep and feature an LTE mobile communication network, automated trucks operated from the surface, on-demand ventilation, electric equipment and vehicles.

Operational plans include the extraction of 19,000 tonnes of ore at an estimated grade of 2.75 g/t gold and roughly 5,000 tonnes of waste rock per day during peak operations. The ore will be processed at CMM’s existing plant, which will eventually be adapted to meet the future mine’s needs.
