Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea (AENA) is the state-owned company managing airports and heliports in Spain. Their commitment to sustainability and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is reflected in their membership of the Netzero2050 ACI Europe initiative, which aims to achieve carbon neutrality at Spain's main airports by 2050.
In this way, AENA is actively investing in the development of renewable energy production, particularly in photovoltaic energy (PV) plants for self-consumption, at the airports in its network in Spain. The first phase of the investment plan includes two plants at the Adolfo Suárez Madrid Barajas Airport, and projects in Barcelona-El Prat, Son Bonet Mallorca and Tenerife Sur.
The projects, currently in different phases of development, are being managed through a project management service by WSP. Our project managers will support AENA on specific technical tasks during the project design phase, as well as providing supervision, monitoring and control services for the construction of the photovoltaic solar plants included in this initial investment plan.
