The Karlsruhe-Basel line is the heart of one of Europe’s most important freight corridors, Rotterdam-Cologne-Basel-Milan-Genoa, and is one of the oldest and most frequently used railway lines in southwest Germany. The demands of modern rail traffic will be met with the continuous four-platform extension to the Rhine Valley line, as well as new railway sections in some areas.
