The project was complex because the client also wanted a high degree of flexibility for the building. The trusses are built in glued-laminated timber (glulam) and have a long span of 27 meters to accommodate future changes in use. All timber elements were pre-fabricated in a factory in Austria, and then delivered to the construction site for installation.
The school is built according to the passive house standard, while the kindergarten is built according to TEK17, which is one of the strictest building requirements in Europe. Both buildings are connected to the local district heating system.
WSP provided advisory services in construction technology, timber use and HVAC technical support for construction management.
